yet simple, protection of mission-critical data residing on
your NetWare server or departmental workstations. Backup Exec
for NetWare is easy to use for less technical users, yet powerful
enough for the more advanced user. Select options for Intelligent
Disaster Recovery, library expansion, open file backup,
and sharing tape libraries between multiple NetWare, Windows
NT, or Windows 2000 servers.
VERITAS Backup Exec is the system of
choice for high performance, reliable NetWare data protection--and
the most comprehensive solution for growing networks. VERITAS
Backup Exec incorporates database protection with storage
management options for today's highly specialized networking
environment, which may include demanding storage subsystems.
VERITAS also provides options for rapid recovery from server
disaster and comprehensive backup of open files.
NEW! Remote Agent--Engineered
for Maximum Performance
The Remote Agent, with VERITAS exclusive Agent Accelerator
technology, is performance-optimized to protect remote NetWare
servers. A new agent supports Windows NT and Windows 2000
servers and allows the use of Backup Exec for Windows NT and
Windows 2000 options to protect open files. Through its distributed
processing and source compression, Backup Exec Remote Agents
minimize network traffic, maximize performance and significantly
reduce backup time.
NEW! Library Expansion
Option
Expands storage capacity by adding support for additional
drives within tape library(s). The advanced capabilities of
the VERITAS Backup Exec Library Expansion Option are ideally
suited for unattended lights-out enterprise backup
and restore operations, including fault-tolerant device pooling,
scheduled cleaning operations, barcode reader and portal support.
Backup Exec Library Expansion Option offers a broad range
of support and device compatibility. Calendar View Scheduler
allows easy viewing of scheduled jobs and backup operations.
Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option
Provides a simplified point-in-time recovery solution
for both local and remote NetWare 4.2 and 5.x servers that
may have been physically damaged or reconfigured during an
upgrade. Using either the diskette-based, CD-R/RW or bootable
tape solutions, the Intelligent Disaster Recovery Option reduces
downtime in the event of server failure, allowing you to restore
from your last complete backup set including full,
incremental, differential and working set backups. An automated,
step-by-step process allows you to get your system back to
the state of your last backup, by selecting defaults or allowing
you to reconfigure it, so you control the recovery operation
in the manner best suited to your needs.
SAN Shared Storage Option
Provides the industrys first heterogeneous storage
area network solution that allows tape libraries connected
over a fibre-channel SAN to be shared dynamically between
multiple NetWare 4.2, 5.x and 6.x, Windows NT or Windows 2000
VERITAS Backup Exec servers. The drives are connected to each
host via enabling hardware, such as switches or hubs. SAN
Shared Storage Option provides LAN-free backup to increase
backup performance and LAN bandwidth for user applications.
Open File Option
Ensures that every file on your NetWare 4.2, 5.x (non-Novell
Storage Services [NSS] volumes) and Windows NT/Windows 2000
servers is protected even if in use. This option can handle
open files at the volume level and is seamlessly integrated
into VERITAS Backup Exec. No need to know which files are
open ahead of time, just set a scheduled backup to use this
option with a simple mouse click.
